International Workshop on
Cancer Bioinformatics and Intelligent Medicine
In conjunction with IEEE BIBE 2018
CBIM2018 Call for Papers
The rapid technological developments of ‘multi-omics’ analysis are providing an increasing amount of data for revealing cancer mechanisms as well as promising candidates for diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic agents. Recently, precision medicine revolutionizes the direction in research as well as medical care; for instance, intratumor heterogeneity is a key factor in cancer precision medicine contributing to the cancer lethal outcome, therapeutic failure, and drug resistance. In support of these pursuits, cancer systems biology, bioinformatics, computational medicine, and artificial intelligence encompass the application of computational and mathematical approaches to cancer research, so as to investigate and understand how the genome, proteome, and networks of normal cells are perturbed during tumorigenesis to develop close-to-real models that can help clinicians and researchers with the verifications of new therapeutic drugs/biomarkers and undiscovered mechanisms. Thus, this workshop would like to invite submissions of original research papers on any topic related to novel systems biology and bioinformatics methods for cancer study.
Topic
Topics of interests include but are not limited to:
- Cancer Bioinformatics
- Cancer Systems Biology
- Cancer Intelligent Medicine
- Deep Learning in Oncology
- Deep Learning in Cancer Medicine
- Cancer Genomic/Proteomic Analysis
- Algorithms, Modelling, and Simulation of Cancer
- Predictive, Personalized, Preventive, and Participatory Cancer Computational Medicine
Paper Submission
Detailed instructions for manuscript preparation can be found on the conference website. Only electronic submission will be accepted. Manuscripts may only be submitted in PDF format. A copyright form needs to be submitted upon acceptance of the paper and is not required at this stage. Please note that:
- Workshop papers should be directly submitted to the corresponding workshop organizers (Tatsuya Akutsu, takutsu@kuicr.kyoto-u.ac.jp and Chun-Yu Lin, chunyu@kuicr.kyoto-u.ac.jp).
- Submitted work must not contain contents that have been published or are under consideration for publication by any other journal or conference.
- Every paper accepted for publication must have attached to it at least one registration at the full member/non-member rate. Thus, for a paper for which all authors are students, one student author will be required to register at the full registration rate.
- Manuscripts must be written in English and follow the instructions in the Manuscript Formatting and Templates page. Document templates are located at Paper Submission.
- Please follow the instructions of the author kit provided by the IEEE CPS to upload and also register your camera-ready paper by the deadline. The page limit of camera-ready paper for Workshop Paper is 4 pages, including all figures, tables, and references. (No extra pages allowed)
Accepted Papers
Each accepted paper should be presented by one of the authors at the conference. At least one author of each accepted paper should be registered and pay the full registration fee to ensure the publication of their paper in the BIBE 2018 conference proceedings and IEEE Digital Library.
Extended versions of selected papers will be invited for publication in a special issue in an SCI indexed journal: Journal of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (ISSN: 0219-7200).
